Day 1
Warm Up
Mt. Morgan (13,748')
11 mi, 4000 ft. gain
I drove up late Sunday night into the Eastern Sierra and camped at the Mosquito Flat trailhead. Fortunately, the beautiful fall weather doesn't acommodate mosquitos, so it was a bug-free night, albeit a little chilly. I had a leisurely start and climbed the massive Mt. Morgan out of Rock Creek Lake. A mild headache from the altitude, but overall I'm ecstatic to be back in the Sierra again. The days to follow will require much more focus and endurance, so I prepare dinner and go to bed early.
